Planning to host an intimate dinner party? Maybe even a festival-style soiree? Our Summer party checklist will ensure you’ve ticked off the essentials.
1. Ample space
First things first, make sure your chosen venue has enough space for your big plans. Manor By The Lake sits within 7 acres of lush green lawns and landscaped gardens. Plenty of space to roam in the sun or laze in the shade. As the sun begins to dip your guests can escape for a stroll over the secret bridge – set below festoon lights.
2. Choose your theme
Next on your Summer party checklist is choosing your theme. For the summer, why not throw a festival-themed garden party? At Manor By The Lake you’ll have exclusive use of the grounds, private lake and Pavilion garden. So why not set up little festival-style ‘chill-out’ nooks? For a more formal dining experience, we can bring the inside out – setting up a trestle table amongst the yew trees.
3. Please don’t stop the music
Every great party needs a great soundtrack. We have a wonderful sound system that can play any prepared playlist you want. Why not ask your guests to nominate a song each – this way everyone gets to have their own ‘this is my jam’ moment! For the true festival experience, you could also request a live band to play at your event. It might be worth considering a Tribute act. They’ve gained huge popularity lately, with everything from Adele to Little Mix.
4. A feast for the senses
5. Don’t forget the drinks
Once you’ve chosen the food, it’s time to sort out the drinks. A great crowd pleaser is our cocktail station. Your guests will enjoy topping up their Pimms straight from the tap. For the little ones attending why not request our ice-cream cart? Nothing says summertime like a whipped cone!
6. Let me entertain you
So your guest’s bellies are full and their whistles are wet – time to bring out the entertainment! We have found that a magician is one of the best options for any occasion. Everyone loves trying to figure out an incredible trick. A magician will test your wits and keep your guests guessing.
7. Activities on the day
Our digital age has left us longing for the days of outdoor play. Treat your guests to old favourites like Jenga, Connect 4, or a splendid round of croquet. Lawn games are also a great ice-breaker to get your guests mixing. Nothing brings people out of their shell like a bit of friendly competition!
8. Plan for the British weather
You’ve ticked the major boxes and now it’s time to prepare for the British weather. Should the heavens open and rain on your parade – have a Plan B. We can set up a marquee in the garden or move the party indoors.
Our grand ballroom can host up to 250 guests. While the Lyderick and Library are perfect for cosying up for a little respite. For those wanting to party into the night, our Rock Bar is stocked with a pool table and jukebox. We have many wonderful spaces.
9. Time for bed
Ready to call it a night? We’ve got 12 bedrooms featuring roll-top baths, four-poster beds, and state-of-the-art facilities. Seeking a little extra privacy? Our cosy two-bedroom Butterflies Cottage has your name on it!
Need more room? We can help you book some excellent rooms 3 minutes down the road at the Jury’s Inn.
